Our school crest

Our school crest celebrates our Dominican heritage, reflecting the legacy of the congregation who established our school.

The shield is derived from the Dominican crest and the Cross of d’Aza reflects the family of St Dominic’s mother. It also features the school motto: Veritas. This Latin word means “Truth”, and is also one of the mottos of the Dominican order.

Our history

For nearly 70 years, Our Queen of Peace Greystanes has thrived as a wonderful local school committed to learning, community, and faith.

Our school began in 1957 under the care of the Sisters of Mercy. Originally known as St Simon Stock Primary, classes were taught in the same building that served as the church.

By the late 1960s, school enrolments had rapidly increased. Construction began on new buildings at this time. From 1965 to 1988, our school was under the care of the Dominican Sisters of Malta. The first new school building opened in 1970, with construction continuing through the 1970s.

In 1972, the school was renamed Our Lady Queen of Peace.

Between 1999 and 2003, we undertook a large capital works project, building new facilities and refurbishing existing spaces. In 2003, the school officially opened its contemporary new campus.

Over the years, Our Lady Queen of Peace has maintained a steadfast commitment to academic excellence. We have continued to develop and upgrade our learning spaces to support this goal.

Today, we are a vibrant K-6 learning community with 820 students. We look forward to providing outstanding Catholic education for many years to come!
